CCYD joins Project Aquaria
Last January 27, 2016, the Carolinian Circle of Young Diplomats (CCYD) sent Denise Marie Albarina, Therese San Juan and I to an event called Project Aquaria that was lead by the Cebu Institute of Technology University (CITU) and in partnership with the other UNESCO accredited clubs in Cebu namely USC Pathways,USJR Josenian Industrial Technocrats Society (JOINTS), CNU Educators' Club, and our very own Carolinian Circle of Young Diplomats.
The Project Aquaria is in line with the goals and objectives of UNESCO Clubs of the Philippines, specifically in promoting sustainable development. It intends to promote awareness of the existing environmental issues and water conservation for a more sustainable environment.
The program includes teaching the children in Labangon day Care Center how to wash their hands without wasting too much water and letting the children play the Water Warrior app using our gadgets. After that, the children were rewarded with toys and food as they have done great jobs in the activities.
It was fun to be a part of Project Aquaria, especially when we got to see the excitement on the children’s eyes as they eagerly participate in the activities.
“It’s also amazing how educating children has superseded from books to technology. I had a fun and learning experience in Project Aquaria,it is by far a successful way to inculcate the habit and importance of sanitation to children.I am now a starfisher!”, Therese has said. Project Aquaria is just one of the many things that we could do to help humanity and the world. It is good that at an early age, we could help children in realizing the importance of our environment.
