Celebrating the Constitution and Democracy:
Philippine Constitution Day

Last February 2, 2016, the Carolinian Circle of Young Diplomats (CCYD) along with representatives from the other tracks of Political Science and with representatives from the Carolinian Political Science Society (CPSS) have commemorated the 29th anniversary of the ratification of the 1987 Philippine Constitution. The commemoration of the 1987 Constitution is the initiative of Atty. Archill Niña F. Capistrano and her POSC 12N and 12H classes (Philippine Government and Constitution).

The commemoration ceremony is led by Atty. Archill Capistrano, who is also the track adviser of the International Relations and Foreign Service (IRFS) track, and by Hon. Seane Aljas, the Prime Minister of CCYD. Despite the simplicity of the event, the Constitution march also sent a clear message for Political Science majors and University students alike that to commemorate the ratification of the 1987 Constitution is also to commemorate the triumph of democracy over tyranny.

The event also aims to send awareness to students that, being the highest law of the land, the Constitution embodies the spirit of Philippine liberty and the supremacy of law. For Political Science students, the commemoration also sends a message to remember history; from the days of tyranny to the days of peaceful liberation.
