Carolinian Circle of Young Diplomats

In line with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Conference that the Philippines will be hosting this year, the University of San Carlos through the Department of Political Science held a forum last July 27, 2015 at the Albert van Gansewinkel Hall in the Main Campus.
With APEC 101: Imagine the Possibilities, An Information Roadshow as the theme, the Carolinian Circle of Young Diplomats (CCYD) together with the Carolinian Political Science Society (CPSS) organized and sponsored the event. The aim was to engage and educate Political Science students in the importance of APEC and its implications.
The theme for this year— APEC 2015: Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World — was presented comprehensively by the guest speaker, Ambassador Laura Q. Del Rosario, Undersecretary for International Economic Relations of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) who also talked about the history and aims of APEC in preparation for the seniors officials meeting and ministerial meeting that will be held in Cebu later this year.
The event promptly started at 1:30pm and ended around 4:30pm. The University President, Fr. Dionisio Miranda, and several faculty of the Political Science Department attended the event. Representatives from various departments such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry were present as well. Students from the different schools that were invited were also present, namely: from the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu Doctor’s University, Southwestern University, University of the Philippines - Cebu, University of Southern Philippines - Foundation and Cebu Normal University.
